It took more than 50 years of effort for the Tea Research and Extension Station in Taiwan to cultivate ruby black tea. Breeding from Taiwan native wild mountain tea and Burmese Assam tea, ruby black tea has complex layers of flavor with notes of cinnamon and malt sugar with a minty aroma. It can be a dessert tea due to its slight astringency.
